Shankeya
South Asian, Sri Lankan
Vacation to Sri Lanka
Rating: 5/5
"My recent journey to Sri Lanka was a deeply enriching experience that allowed me to reconnect with my roots while navigating the complexities of identity as a Westernized individual of Sri Lankan descent. While I may always carry the duality of my Western upbringing and Sri Lankan heritage, my time in Sri Lanka reminded me that home is not defined by borders, but by the connections we forge with others along the way."

Josh
Asian, Filipino
Move to San Diego
Rating: 3/5
"When I visit Del Mar, just a bit north of San Diego, I can't help but notice the stark contrast. It's a wealthier, mostly white area, and every time I stroll around with friends or family, especially in the evenings, I feel like all eyes are on me. It's been happening since I was a child—a recurring pattern of being stared at, particularly by older Caucasian individuals. There's never any outright discrimination or verbal harassment, but the intense gazes and lingering stares make me acutely aware of my difference."

Daratu

Study Abroad in Melbourne
Rating: 2/5
"Melbourne was rough for me in the beginning because I was used to having a diverse friend group and it was difficult to find that the first few days. Even though the university had events for exchange students I could not connect with many of them because they were white Europeans and I felt like we had nothing in common. I usually am not opposed to befriending different people but I found that they were not putting in any effort to develop a friendship with me and I was not sure if that was because of my race or nationality."
